Dependency channel model for transform domain Wyner-Ziv coding

چکیده
Distributed video coding is a new video coding paradigm aimed at shifting the computational expensive motion estimation to the decoder. Side information is generated at the decoder as a prediction of the current frame. This creates a virtual dependency channel between the source video at the encoder and the side information at the decoder. Error correcting channel codes are used to correct the side information. Many recent distributed video coding systems are based on turbo codes. While the performance of turbo codes can approach the Shannon bound when used on standard noisy network communication channels, it is not obvious that they can deal with non-stationary noise encountered in distributed video codecs. In this paper, we propose a channel model and show how the accuracy of this model affects the performance. Studying the Feedback Channel in Transform Domain Wyner-ziv Video Coding *
Wyner-Ziv (WZ) video coding – a particular case of distributed video coding (DVC) – is a new video coding paradigm based on two major Information Theory results: the Slepian-Wolf and Wyner-Ziv theorems. Recently, practical WZ video coding solutions were proposed with promising results. Many of the solutions available in the literature make use of a feedback channel (FC) to perform rate control ...

In current interframe video compression systems, the encoder performs predictive coding to exploit the similarities of successive frames. The Wyner-Ziv Theorem on source coding with side information available only at the decoder suggests that an asymmetric video codec, where individual frames are encoded separately, but decoded conditionally (given temporally adjacent frames) could achieve simi...

متن کاملHigh-rate quantization and transform coding with side information at the decoder
We extend high-rate quantization theory to Wyner-Ziv coding, i.e., lossy source coding with side information at the decoder. Ideal Slepian-Wolf coders are assumed, thus rates are conditional entropies of quantization indices given the side information. This theory is applied to the analysis of orthonormal block transforms for Wyner-Ziv coding. A formula for the optimal rate allocation and an ap...
